    1 Diantara jenis tanaman Hias yang banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia, krisan (Dendranthema grandiflora dan anyelir (Dianthus caryophilus) merupakan yang paling penting ditinjau dari aspek nilai produksi dan kegiatan bisnis. Oleh karena usahatani krisan dan anyelir dilakukan melalui sistem industri, pengembangan dua jenis tanaman tersebut memberi dampak positif terhadap perbaikan pendapatan masyarakat di daerah pedesaan. Hingga kini industri krisan dan anyelir menghadapi banyak kendala, yang utama ialah ketergantungan varietas dari luar negeri. Akibat krisis moneter para produsen tidak mampu lagi mengimpor varietas baru karena harganya berlipat ganda. Perakitan varietas unggul nasional marupakan alternatif terbaik untuk mengatasi masalah ketergantungan varietas impor. Kendala lain yang sangat penting ialah kurang tersedianya teknik budldaya yang sesuai dengan kondisi di indonesia, Hasil kegiatan penelitian pemuliaan sejak lima tahun yang lalu menunjukkan bahwa 15 klon krisan dan 10 klon anyelir harapan diperoleh melalui program seleksi secara ketat, Satu klon krisan dan 3 klon anyelir diketahui masing-masing tahan terhadap penyakit karat dan tungau. Di dalam tahun 2001 kegiatan penelitian pemuliaan difokuskan pada seleksi lanjutan populasi F1 risan dan anyelir silangan tahun 1998 - 2000 untuk tipe bunga unik, evaluasi ketahanan klon-klon krisan terhadap penyakit karat (Puccinia horiana), evaluasi ketahanan klon-klon krisan terhadap hama panting, evaluasi daya hasil dan adaptasi kIon-klon harapan krisan dan anyelir, evaluasi respon fisiologi klon/varietas unggul krisan terhadap sistem budidaya standar, Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 15 klon harapan krisan telah dihasilkan yang memiliki karakter unique and baru, dua klon yaitu S (002 and 007) diketahul resistant terhadap penyakit karat dan 8 klon lainnya bersifat moderat tahan. Lima klon krisan terbukti adaptif dan stabil blla ditanam di daerah altitud yang berbeda. Sepuluh klon dan varietas krisan berespon positif terhadap pupuk slow release and gliocompost. Semua klon tersebut perlu dievaluasi lebih lanjut untuk pelesan varietas pada tahun depan.
